About
Hi there, and welcome to my website. I’m Rosie, and my aim is to bring joy into your home with my contemporary handmade ceramics.
Originally from Co. Wicklow in Ireland, since 2005 I now live in South Queensferry near Edinburgh in Scotland, where I enjoy making wheel thrown and slab built ceramic pieces from my studio. I'm hugely influenced by the beautiful landscapes of Ireland and Scotland which inspire a lot of my designs. Each piece is handmade and glazed by hand, therefore all pieces are unique in themselves.
Having attended many pottery classes at Edinburgh Ceramics Workshop learning from the very talented Tricia Thom, I went on to became a member there for a while. I then attended further pottery classes directly with Tricia at her home studio over a further couple of years. My love of making grew more and more and at the end of 2019 I invested in my own equipment and had a studio built in my garden, which brought about the beginning of Rosie Hay Ceramics.
In April 2025, I took on an artist studio space within the Rosebery Hall building on the High Street in South Queensferry. There are 3 other artists based in the same ground floor area, so it's really nice to feel a part of a creative space locally.
Making pottery is such a calming experience for me. I love nothing more than preparing lots of balls of clay and then sitting at my wheel throwing pieces for hours on end whilst listening to podcasts or audiobooks. It’s something I hope to be doing for many years to come and I’m looking forward to the journey it takes me on.
I will update my online shop here as and when I have stock available. If you'd like to keep up to date about when that will be, please sign up to my email list below.
